Donald TippeyDonald E. Tippey, 84, of Lewistown died at 11:50 a.m. Dec. 4, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born May 17, 1926, in Isabel Township, Fulton County, a son of Orville and Marie Severns Tippey. He married Oretta Davis on Oct. 5, 1946, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Barry (and Barbara) Tippey of Lexington, Ky., and Chris (and Amy) Tippey of Pekin; one daughter, Janie (and Jeff) Shumaker of Lewistown; one brother, Phillip L. (and Beth) Tippey of Buhl, Idaho; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter and one sister.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

He was a farmer and a coal miner for Freeman United Coal Company.

He was a member of Lewistown First Presbyterian Church, past member of Lewistown Lodge 104 AF and AM, Valley of Peoria Scottish Rite and Mohammed Shrine.

He had been a 4-H Leader for the Jolly Workers and served on Lewistown School Board and Fulton County Soil and Water Conservation Board.

Services were held Tuesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Reverend Danie deBeer officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with military rites conducted by Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and American Legion Bishop Post 1.
