Don Thompson

Don ThompsonDon E. Thompson, 69, of Ipava died at 6:11 p.m. July 11, 2010, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 17, 1941, in Canton, a son of Leo DeVere and Janette Parkinson Thompson. He married Clara Kay Wys on Jan. 2, 1964, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Rick DeVere (and Bobbi) Thompson of Ipava; one daughter, Glenda Kay (and Tracy) Pratt of Ipava; one sister, Janice (and Frank) Dooley of Counce, Tenn.; one step brother, William (and Susan) Grubb of Mansfield; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three infant sons.

He was a lifelong farmer.

He was a member of Lewistown United Methodist Church; a 46-year member of Lewistown Odd Fellows Lodge and served on the Fulton County Fair Board for 17 years.

Services were held Tuesday at Lewistown United Methodist Church. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to IOOF 566 of Lewistown or to the Fulton County Fairgrounds for new lighting at the grounds.
