Paul Tarter

Paul R. Tarter, 67, of Pleasanton, Texas, formerly of the Cuba area, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in San Antonio, Texas.

He was born July 16, 1934, in Table Grove, a son of Archie and Margaret (Jenkins) Tarter. He married Judith Ford on Feb. 16, 1963, at rural Cuba. She died April 16, 2001.

He also was preceded in death by one brother, Harry Tarter.

Surviving are one son, Jason Tarter of Pleasanton; one daughter, Dawn Tarter of Chicago; two brothers, Gerald (and Katherine) Tarter of Lewistown and Ronald (and Marty) Tarter of Elmwood; and one sister, Helen (and Howard) Saunders of Trivoli.

He and his late wife both taught school at the Cuba High School and Cuba Grade School before moving to Texas in 1983. He taught school in Texas from 1983-1999.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Cuba Elementary School gym. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba is in charge of local arrangements.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Paul Tarter Memorial Library Fund to provide books and learning materials for the Cuba Elementary School.
