Carol V. Trone, 71, of Cuba, formerly of rural Smithfield, died at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, at Clayberg Fulton County Nursing Home in Cuba.
She was born Feb. 25, 1926, in Ray, the daughter of Harry and Noreen Rudisill Brown. She married James E. “Hank” Trone on Aug. 19, 1946, in Woodland Township, Fulton County. He died June 12, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are two sons, James E. Trone Jr. and Michael Ned Trone, both of Smithfield; two daughters, Sue Lasswell of Cuba and Debby Hedden of Smithfield; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, John White of Long Beach, Calif.
She was a member of the Cuba American Legion Auxiliary; Canton Womens Bowling Association; and Illinois Valley Foxhunters Association.
Services were held Monday at Henry Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Layton Malone officiating. Burial was in Baughman Cemetery in rural Smithfield.
