GRACE M. (NORTHRUP) THORMAN

Grace Thorman

Grace M. Thorman, 92, of rural Macomb, died at 12:07 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1997, at Prairie City Nursing Center.

She was born Sept. 4, 1904, in Chillicothe, a daughter of Edward and Olive Wilson Northrup. She married Joseph Thorman on Feb. 14, 1924, in Bushnell. He died Nov. 29, 1992. She also was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, one brother and three sisters.

Surviving are five sons, Lloyd Thorman, Ray Thorman, Wayne Thorman and Marvin Thorman, all of rural Macomb, and Kenneth Thorman of Wyoming, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Max (Carol) Waller of rural Table Grove, Mrs. Jerry (Betty) Nelson of Bardolph, and Mrs. Richard (Wilma) Wilson of rural Sciota; 26 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was named farm wife of the year by McDonough County Farm Bureau in 1982. She was the oldest member of Jerusalem United Methodist Church and was a member of its Women’s Missionary Society. She received the Outstanding Christian Service Award in 1981.

Services were held Saturday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell with Rev. James Wheeler officiating. Burial was in Bushnell Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to her church or the Prairie City Nursing Center.
