VeteranMervin Twedell

Mervin Twedell, 77, of Creve Coeur, died at 4:48 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at his home.

He was born Feb. 8, 1919, in Adair, a son of William Henry and Ella Mae Harris Twedell. He married Phyllis Marian Warner on Oct. 28, 1939, in Kahoka, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Richard L. Twedell of LeRoy, Jerry M. Twedell of Groveland, Steven K. Twedell of Peoria and Ronald D. Twedell of Mesquite, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Karen) Bradford of Marquette Heights; one brother, Harold of Medford, Ore.; two sisters, Mary O. Pollitt of Pekin and Genice Howell of Morton; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Five brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

A World War II Marine Corps veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post 1234 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4835, both in Creve Coeur. He was a truck driver for 42 years, retiring in 1973 from ABF Truck Lines. He was a member of Teamsters Local 627 in Peoria.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel with Rev. Gary Reif officiating. Burial was in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.
