Gene Tillitt, 42, of DeSoto, formerly of Rushville and Arcola, died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1996, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
He was born Dec. 20, 1953, in Louisiana, Mo., a son of Harold Lee and Nancy Van Ree Tillitt.
Survivors include his mother of Waterloo; one daughter, Sarah Tillitt of Cary; two brothers, Richard Tillitt of DeSoto and William Tillitt of Ashland.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He was a member of the Arcola United Methodist Church and graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb in 1978. He was a member of the 1978 National Champion Fast Pitch softball team, S&K Rigging of Arcola and was All Conference in baseball, basketball, football and track at Rushville High School in 1972. He worked for Lennie Swedell Farms in Adair.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Scott Henley officiating. Burial was in the Rushville City Cemetery.
