Florine Thorman, 96, of Prairie City Nursing Home in Prairie City, died there at 1:23 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 1996.
She was born Jan. 1, 1900 in Vermont, a daughter of Kersey and Amanda McKenzie France. She married Robert J. Thorman on May 17, 1930, in Macomb. He died Sept. 12, 1985. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Marjorie Mason, two sisters and one brother.
Surviving are one son, James R. Thorman of Marietta; one sister, Clara France of Macomb; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Western Illinois State Teacher’s College in Macomb in 1922. She taught in several Fulton and McDonough county rural schools. She was a member of New Philadelphia United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia and its Ladies Aid Society.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell with Rev. Mary Jo Williams officiating. Burial was in Bushnell Cemetery.
