Mabel Trone

Mabel Ray Trone, 86, of Rushville, died at 4:38 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 1996, at the Culbertson Long Term Care Facility in Rushville.

She was born in Clarence, Mo., on July 30, 1909, the daughter of John N. and Millie Jane Fisher Ray. She married Doane G. Trone in Astoria on Sept. 15, 1929. He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1984. Also preceding her in death were her parents and four brothers, Wilmer, Vincent “Tom”, Clinton “Jim” and Winter.

She is survived by three sons, Dennis Trone and Robert Trone of Petersburg, and Kent Trone of Edwardsville; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She attended public schools in Schuyler County, graduated from Gem City Business College, Quincy, and attended Bradley University, Peoria and Western Illinois University, Macomb. She served as deputy County Clerk of Schuyler County from 1934 to 1942, was Chief War Price and Ration Board from 1942 to 1945, and was Director of the Medical Records Department and Office Manager of Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital, Rushville, from 1951 to 1974. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Rushville, a member and past matron of Schuyler Chapter Order of Eastern Star, a member and past president of the Rushville Business Professional Women’s Club, a member of BE-KIK-A-NIN-EE Chapter, National Society Daughters of American Revolution, the Schuyler Jail Museum and Genealogical Center, and a retired member of the Illinois and American Medical Records Association.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the First Christian Church in Rushville with Rev. Leroy Cronkhite and Rev. Robert Belew officiating. Burial was in the Rushville City Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Schuyler Jail Museum and Genealogical Center.

Worthington Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
