Mrs. Estella Thomas Dies In Hospital

Mrs. Estella A. Thomas, 87, of Astoria, a resident of the Astoria Care Center for the past few years, died at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1980, in Culbertson Hospital in Rushville.

She was born on Aug. 24, 1894 in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Samuel and Vernerlia Trotter Bergquist. She was married to Guy Thomas at Lewistown on Oct. 13, 1919. He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1933.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Betty Phillips of Peoria and Mrs. Twila Orr of Rushville; three sons, Willard Thomas of Astoria, Wayne Thomas of Davenport, Iowa and Harry Thomas of Gadsden, Ala.; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Ring of Havana.

She was preceded in death by two sons and several brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Astoria Christian Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday morning at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Summum Cemetery.

Friends may call at Shawgo’s after 4 p.m. Thursday. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
