Rev. Fred Thompson Dies This Morning

Rev. Fred Thompson, 77, passed away early this morning in Culbertson hospital in Rushville. He had been in failing health for some time. He was a lifetime resident of this area.

He was born near Bluff City on Dec. 19, 1882, the son of Thomas and Jane Gould Thompson. He was united in marriage to Myrtle Seymore May 26, 1904. She preceded him in death Sept. 23, 1959.

Rev. Thompson was a member of the Astoria Christian church. He had been active in the ministry for over 30 years.

Two children survive, a son Russell of Astoria, and a daughter, Mrs. Geneva Beck of Canton; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sister Mrs. Callie Brown, Detroit, Mich. One half-brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Astoria Christian church, conducted by Rev. Lee Carter Maynard. Burial in Astoria cemetery.

Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Shawgo Memorial Home until noon Friday. At the church after 1:00 p.m. Friday.
