Dies At Home Of Daughter In Peoria

Mrs. Jessie Tweedell, former resident of Beardstown, widow of William Tweedell, died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ralph Salisbury in Peoria, aged 73 years and 10 days.

Mrs. Tweedell was born Nov. 6, 1877 in Astoria, Ill., the daughter of Smith and Lydia Ashcraft Roberts. As a small child she and her parents moved to Rushville.

In the year 1896 she was united in marriage to Adrian Mitchell, and to this union one daughter was born.

She was married to William Tweedell of Ray in 1898 and to this union one son was born. This only son gave his life on the battlefields in France in 1945 and ever since the death of her son Mrs. Tweedell had been in failing health. On Feb. 18, 1950, her husband died.

Other than her daughter, Mrs. Salisbury, Mrs. Twedell is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Katzenberger of Rushville, and Mrs. Susan Skiles of Peoria. Six grandsons, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter also survive, as well as several nieces and nephews.
