Steven SnowdenSteven Wayne “Tater” Snowden, 62, of rural Vermont died July 6, 2024, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

He was born Jan. 3, 1962, in Macomb, a son of Donald Ross and Shirley Rae “Flip” Simeral Snowden. He married Patricia L. Jackson in St. Louis on Aug. 3, 2013. She survives.

Also surviving are his father, Donald of rural Macomb; two sisters, Jan (and Jack) Perone of Springfield and Julie (and Bruce) Cordell of rural Beardstown; two brothers, David (and Rhonda) Snowden of Warsaw and Mark (and Judy) Snowden of Des Moines, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley “Flip” Snowden.

He was a 1980 graduate of Industry High School. He graduated magna cum laude in 2011 from Spoon River College, earning an Associates Degree in Business Agriculture. In 2006 he became employed with the Illinois Detention and Treatment Facility in Rushville as a security guard, retiring in November of 2021. During his entire adult life, his real passion was farming with his parents.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. Funeral services will be at West Prairie Presbyterian Church in rural Adair at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Jeremy Westlake officiating. Burial will follow at Pennington Point Cemetery at 11:30 a.m., with a luncheon immediately following at the church.
