Judy SchoonoverJudy Schoonover, 81, of Colchester died May 8, 2023, at her home.

She was born Dec. 15, 1941, in Macomb, a daughter of Paul and Pansy Bolen Helton. She married Stan Schoonover on June 29, 1958, in Kirksville, Mo. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Jerry (and Peggy Brown) Schoonover of Plymouth; three daughters, Cindy (and Jerry) Markey of Colchester, Penny (and Monte) Easley of Ipava and Linda (and Brett Burgard) Garretson of Canton; one brother, Jack Helton; one sister, Janice Malone of Macomb; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Helton.

She was a 1960 graduate of Colchester High School. She sold Royal Neighbor Insurance and was a deputy officer with the company. She worked with her mother at Helton Nursing Home in Colchester and worked as the Unit Secretary at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She and Norma Porter owned and operated N and J Upholstery and Draperies in Colchester. She also owned and operated Lakeside Quilting and Draperies in Colchester from 2003 to present. Judy was a member of the Colchester Business Professional Women’s Club. She also was a birthday and wedding cake decorator.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Reverend Jim Clayton officiating. Burial will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb. Friends may sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 11.
