Delbert SewardDelbert Eugene Seward, 74, of Prairie City died at 7:55 p.m. Aug. 18, 2022, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born March 1, 1948, in Vermont, a son of Harmie and Anna Neuman Seward. He married Linda Cain in Dahinda. She preceded him in death on Sept. 21, 2016.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Patricia Jackson, Mary Wagher and Gloria Smith.

Surviving are one daughter, Wendy (and Mike) Geltmacher of Bushnell; one son, David (and Shirley Lange) of Columbus, Ind.; three siblings, Clifford Seward of Abingdon, Debra (and Bob) Carter of Prairie City and Janet (and Jeff) Hunt of Corsicana, Texas, his girlfriend, Sherry Keller of Pekin; and six grandchildren.

He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After serving in the Army he worked for Butler Manufacturing, Fayhee Implement, owned and operated Filter Queen/Delco Air and retired after a 30-plus year career with Hiel Trucking.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell. Cremation rites will be accorded. Private burial will be held Sept. 3 at the Blackaby-Saunders Cemetery, located near Cuba.
