Lenora StiversLenora Ellen Stivers, 94, of Macomb, formerly of Rushville, died at 11:27 a.m. May 1, 2022, at the Elms Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Macomb.

She was born Sept. 21, 1927, at her family home in Rushville Township, Schuyler County, a daughter of Murray Leroy “Roy” and Bertha Isabell Gossage Hopkins.

Surviving are five nieces, Renee (and George) Roodhouse, Joyce Foutch, Lisa McCutchan, Dallas Trujillo and Connie Robertson; six great nieces and nephews, Jason (and Jennifer) Briney, Jennifer (and Jeff) Hole, Anna (and Shawn) Hanold, Olivia Robertson, Cody Foutch and Josh Mercer; and six great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, William Leroy “Bud” Hopkins; four sisters, Shirley Ann Moshak, Helen Elizabeth Robertson, Mary Louise Trujillo and Nancy Jane Hopkins; and two nephews, Steve Robertson and Joe Robertson.

She taught in a one-room country schoolhouse, cleaned homes, did factory work and cared for animals. She retired twice, once from NTN Bower in Macomb, and last from Schuyler-Brown FS in Rushville.

She was a devout member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was in the Theocratic Ministry School where she went door to door to teach others about the Bible. She also attended JW assemblies and conventions across the nation. She was a volunteer at the Schuyler County Jail Museum.

Cremation has been accorded. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Christian Neck Cemetery with Kent Higgins officiating. Inurnment will follow. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville.
