Duane SmithDuane “Jim” Smith, 74, of rural Macomb died at 1:50 a.m. April 28, 2022, at his residence.

He was born July 21, 1947, in Macomb, the son of Duane “Buck” and Rosalee Parks Smith. He married Karen Ellis on Jan. 28, 1967, in Good Hope. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Melissa “Missy” (and Jeff) Hochstatter of Wyanet and Amanda “Mandy” Smith of Adair; one sister, Dixie (and Roger) Rouse of Macomb; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He lived all of his life in the Macomb area where he was a life-long farmer. He was a member of the New Salem Township Board, New Salem Fire and Rescue Squad and was a former member of the Presbyterian Men’s Group. He also served as the sexton of the Pennington Point Cemetery for many years.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. Burial was in Pennington Point Cemetery west of Adair.
