Barry ScegoBarry Lee Scego, 67, of Browning died at 4:07 p.m. Feb. 17, 2020, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born Aug. 6, 1952, in Beardstown, a son of Stanley Lee and Betty Mae Workman Scego. He married Paula Beth Sipes on Jan. 12, 1991, in Browning. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Kristina (and Yasia) Scego-Gibson of Beardstown; Tammy (and Josh Stambaugh) Sipes of Rushville and Patty (and Daniel) Murphy of Winchester; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Kathy Hawk; and one brother, Stanley Ray Scego.

He graduated from Rushville High School in 1971. He was a member of Browning United Methodist Church and was a Methodist Lay Speaker. He was a patrolman for the Fulton County Sherriff’s Department, worked for River City Construction and retired from G.M. Sipes Construction in 2006, due to ill health. He was a member of the Springfield Laborers Union Local #477 and Rushville Lodge #9 AF & AM. He was a member of Ansar Shrine of Springfield where he participated with the Keystone Cops. He also built commercial fish nets.

Funeral services were held Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Charla Meyers officiating. Masonic services were conducted by Rushville Lodge #9. Burial was in Browning Cemetery.
