He was born May 7, 1947, in Canton, a son of Devere and Marjorie Klinedinst Scrogum. He never married.
Surviving are his parents of Astoria; three sisters, Marsha (and Ray) Adkins of Astoria, Cheryl (and Denny) Dye of Reedsburg, Wis., and Mary Sue (and Mark) Clayton of West Paducah, Ky.; one brother, Michael (and Penny) Scrogum of Macomb; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He worked at Bridgeway in Macomb, sorting newspapers. He also sorted bolts for a company in Peoria.
He attended church every Sunday.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
