Jay ShowalterJay Showalter, 62, of Astoria, formerly of Kilbourne, died at 7:01 p.m. Feb. 28, 2015, at his home.

He was born Oct. 4, 1952, in Springfield, a son of Charles and Erma Sathoff Showalter. He married Kelley Watkins on Sept. 6, 1997, in Chillicothe. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Joshua Michael Harvey of Astoria; one daughter, Elsie Abigail (and Colton) Danner of Astoria; two brothers, Terry (and Vicky) Showalter and Rick (and Karen) Showalter, both of Kilbourne; and one grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Marvin Showalter.

He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 35 years. He worked as a painter at Caterpillar for the last 20 years. He retired in October 2008.

He was in U.S. Army Reserves from 1973-87 attaining a rank of SGT.

He was a member of UAW Local 974 and NRA.

Cremation Rites have been accorded. Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
