Nita StrattonNita Margaret Stratton, 91, of Rushville died at 2:25 p.m. Jan. 6, 2015, at Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy.

She was born Nov. 28, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minn., a daughter of Jules Wallace and Ellen Edna Shawbold Green. She married Lytle Eugene Stratton on July 26, 1946, in Minneapolis. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1989.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Green, John Green and Gary Green; and three sisters, Violet Green, Violet Decker and Bethlyn Dorn.

Surviving are her children, Jesse L. (and Linda) Stratton of Shawano, Wis., and Carolyn N. (and Ray) Geeseman of Plymouth; one brother, George A. (and Jeannette) Green of Brainerd, Minn.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A World War II Army Air Corps veteran, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of Brooklyn United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Schuyler American Legion Post #4.

Services were held Friday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Chaplain John D. Adams officiating. Military rites were conducted by Schuyler American Legion Post #4 following the service. Burial was in Blackburn Cemetery near Brooklyn.
