Gerald SewardGerald SewardGerald Roland Seward, 84, of Beardstown died May 21, 2013, at the home of his daughter in Montgomery, Texas.
He was born March 27, 1929, in Bartonville, a son of Covadis and Anna Johnson Seward. He married Doris Darlene Dodds on Feb. 11, 1951, in Beardstown. She preceded him in death on Oct. 8, 2007.
He also was preceded in death by one son, Michael on May 19, 2006; two brothers; one sister; and one niece, Carolyn Watson (surviving husband Don of Astoria).
Surviving are his three daughters, Kay Trone, Kathy (and Paul) Miller and Lori Haines, all of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Army Merchant Marines.
He previously owned and operated an auto body shop in Beardstown.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Beardstown. Burial will be in Beardstown City Cemetery where military honors will be held. Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
