Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Underwood Sheets, 89, of Lewistown and Bardolph, died at 9:55 p.m. Jan. 14, 2012, at Renaissance Care Center in Canton.
She was born Oct. 9, 1922, in Rushrun, Ohio, the daughter of Leonard Samuel and Mary Jane Bellville Underwood. She married Wilbur D. Sheets on Oct. 25, 1941, in Kirkwood, Mo. He died Aug. 13, 1982.
Surviving are one daughter, Kay A. (and Joe) Miles of Lewistown; one son, Davis K. Sheets Sr. of Bardolph; one brother, Leonard Samuel "Bud" Underwood of Utah; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Lewistown High School in 1941, and then graduated from Liberty Beauty College in 1958. She worked at Isted's drug store, Caterpillar and ran a beauty shop in her home for 50 years.
She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Lewistown, Hairdresser's Association, Lewistown Jr. Women's Club where she was past president, Lewistown Sr. Women's Club, Business and Professional Women of Fulton County and a card group.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Father James Fedosuk officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the memorial home. Cremation will be accorded following services. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown at a later date.
Memorials may be made to St. James Episcopal Church or Graham Hospital.
