Harrie ShaferHarrie “Todd” Shafer, 76, of Prairieview Care Center of Lewistown died at 10:20 a.m. Oct. 27, 2010, at the care center.

He was born Feb. 9, 1934, in Lockport, a son of Harrie and Margaret Daley Shafer. He married Marie Redmond on Aug. 20, 1955, in Oak Lawn.

Surviving are one son, Tom (and Terri) Shafer of Lewistown; three daughters, Kathy (and Jim) Bull of Little America, Shar (and Ted) Neuendorf of Little America and Missy (and Tim) Engel of Ipava; one sister, Margaret Elizabeth Hawkins of Georgia; one half sister, Marie Webb of Joliet; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

He served in the U.S. Army in Germany.

He worked as a coal miner and a mechanic. He later retired from Fulton County where he worked in maintenance.

He was a member of Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and a past member of Lewistown Optimist Club and Lewistown Lodge 104 AF and AM.

Cremation will be accorded. Services were held Monday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Monsignor Robert O’Connor officiating. Inurnment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lewistown with military rites conducted by Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and American Legion Bishop Post 1.
