Mary Shepard

Mary ShepardMary M. Shepard, 89, of Cuba died at noon Aug. 4, 2010, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Canton where she was a resident.

She was born Jan. 4, 1921, in Adams County, a daughter of Sherman and Lelie Green Adair. She married Thomas F. Shepard on Oct. 24, 1945, in Bushnell. He died May 1, 1981.

She also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Surviving are two sons, Charles (and Karrie) Shepard of Urbana and Donald (and Denise) Shepard of Tuscola; two daughters, Donna (and Tom) Pickering of Tulsa, Okla., and Barbara Shepard of Canton; one brother, John Adair of Macomb; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and one step great-great-grandchild.

She worked at Canton Manufacturing for 22 years retiring in December 1990.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Plymouth.

She was a member of Cuba American Legion Auxiliary, Lewistown VFW Auxiliary and Women of the Moose Canton Lodge.

Services were held Monday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. John Anderson officiating. Burial was in Marietta Cemetery.
