R. Duane Sheets

R. Duane "Dewey" Sheets, 70, of Lewistown died at 9:23 a.m. Sunday, May 29, 2005, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born Feb. 20, 1935, in Pekin, a son of MIlton and Opal Sprague Sheets. He married Linda Dennis on Sept. 4, 1954, in Mount Sterling. She survives.

Also surviving are five sons, Robert, Tony and Harold (and Cris), all of Lewistown, Rick of Little America and Terry of Bryant; three daughters, Carol Pasley of St. David, Susan (and David) Fouts of Ipava and Kay (and Chad) Wilson of Lewistown; two brothers, Emerson (and Wilma) of Havana and Don (and Margaret) of Peoria; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

He worked for International Harvester at the Canton and Indianapolis plants for 30 years, retiring in 1990.

He served as a Waterford Township trustee.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Waterford Union Church in rural Lewistown with Rev. John Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Waterford Cemetery in rural Lewistown. Henry-Lange Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
