ANNABELLE (HARLAN) STRODE

Annabelle Strode

Annabelle Strode, 87, of Abingdon died at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at the Care Center of Abingdon.

She was born April 9, 1915, in Vermont, a daughter of Donald and Nellie Dean Harlan. She married Samuel Paul Strode on Sept. 3, 1930, in Bushnell. He died Jan. 29, 1970.

She also was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers.

Surviving are one daughter, Sarah (and Harold) Sluyter of Abingdon; three granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

She lived in Bushnell until 1942 when she moved to Abingdon. She formerly worked at Blue Bell Manufacturing in Abingdon, Canfield Co. in Galesburg, A&W restaurant in Abingdon and was a sales representative for Avon Products for many years.

She was of the Christian faith.

Services were held Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with Eleanor Landon officiating. Burial was in Bushnell Cemetery.
