Kenneth Speer

L. Kenneth Speer, 73, of Table Grove died at 9:18 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2000, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born June 3, 1926, in Union Township, Fulton County, a son of Tom and Lila Dalefield Speer. He married Dana K. Gray on July 4, 1948, in Philadelphia. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Jackie (and David) Thompson and Jill (and Steve) Bainter, both of Macomb; four brothers, Eugene of Eureka, Creel of Table Grove, Kermit of Mattoon and Orvan of Bushnell; two sisters, Leota Speer of Macomb and Eileen (and Wayne) Melvin of Galesburg; and two grandchildren.

One brother preceded him in death.

He operated Speer Grocery in Table Grove with his brother Creel for 42 years. He retired in 1990.

He was a member of Table Grove Community Church and its endowment board.

He was a member of Table Grove Fire Dept. for 30 years and a member of Vermont Masonic Lodge 116, AF&AM.

He served on the Hipsley Trust Board, the Fulton County Board of Supervisors for one term, and on the board of directors of Table Grove Savings and Loan Bank.

Services were held Tuesday at his church with Rev. Tim Ashley officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery in Table Grove. Kost Memorial Home in Vermont was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Macomb Bomber Booster Club, Table Grove Rescue Squad or Table Grove Community Church building fund.
