MERLE (MILLARD) SCOTT

Merle Scott

Merle Scott, 96, of Green Bay, Wis., formerly of Canton, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2000, at Woodside Nursing Home in Green Bay.

She was born Nov. 20, 1903, in Roseville, a daughter of Arthur and Mertie McLaughlin Millard. She married James F. Scott on July 22, 1928, in Canton. He died Dec. 10, 1963.

One brother and one sister also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, James of Rapid City, S.D.; one daughter, Nancy (and Larry) Armstrong of Green Bay, with whom she made her home; one sister, Millicent Groves of Astoria; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was a court reporter for Knox, Fulton and Tazewell counties. She later was a secretary for her husband at Chipperfield & Chipperfield Law Offices.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Canton. She also was a member of the PEO Sisterhood and the Altruistic Club of Canton.

Graveside services were held Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Paul Walles officiating. A memorial service was held Thursday at her church. Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Altruistic Club of Canton.
