William G. “Bill” Simpson, 65, of Lewistown, died at 6:47 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Feb. 15, 1934, in Orion Township, Fulton County, a son of Frank Alexander and Stella Vivian Norton Simpson. He married Barbara Wys on April 9, 1961, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Todd of Astoria and Bruce of Lewistown; two daughters, Cindy Jugovic of Dunfermline and Lisa Anderson of Walnut; one brother, Frederick of Lewistown; three sisters, Marguerette Severt of Bushnell, Patricia Shipp of Tremont and Katheryn Varner of St. David; six grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

He was a Korean War Army veteran.

He worked at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria for 38 years, retiring in 1990. He also farmed with his brother and two sons in the Lewistown area.

He was a member of Lewistown United Methodist Church, its Fellowship Class and the Methodist Men’s Club.

He also was a member of Lewistown Odd Fellows Lodge 15; Lewistown Masonic Lodge 104, AF&AM; and Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Peoria.

He was a member of Fulton County Farm Bureau, Lewistown High School Alumni Association, St. Luke’s Heart Club of St. Louis and Graham Hospital Cardiac Rehab Center.

Services were Monday at Lewistown United Methodist Church with Rev. Jon Sims officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, where military rites were conducted by Lewistown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5001 and American Legion Post 1. Henry Memorial Home in Lewistown was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to his church, Lewistown Odd Fellows Lodge or Lewistown Community High School Class of 1952.
