A service of committal of ashes was held for Dr. I. Jay Schiff at the Harris Cemetery outside Table Grove on Sunday, April 25, 1999, at 11 a.m.
Dr. Schiff was born on April 27, 1917, in Chicago and passed away on Jan. 6, 1999, in Los Angeles, Calif. He was the husband of the former Carolyn Tatham, a sister of Mrs. Vernon C. Thompson of Table Grove. Dr. Schiff was an internist and practiced medicine for 50 years in Los Angeles.
Anthony Hunter Schiff, his son, opened the service with a eulogy to his father. This was followed by a poem written by his daughter, Victoria Ann, and presented by Elizabeth Nan Schiff who also offered comments of her father. Several persons present spoke of their remembrances of “Jay.”
Relatives and friends came from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Galesburg, Houston, Chicago, New York, Evanston and Table Grove for this service.
