S. Glen Shaver

S. Glen Shaver, 97, of Ipava, died at 2:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at Astoria Healthcare Center in Astoria.

He was born Nov. 1, 1900, in Vermont Township, Fulton County, a son of Samuel and Laura Welch Shaver. He married Lena Heltzel on Jan. 24, 1923, in Peoria. She died Dec. 17, 1992. He also was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Surviving are one daughter, Margaret Sweborg of West Peoria; two stepgranddaughters; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

He was a seed corn salesman, retiring in 1984. He also retired from Watkins Products sales. He was a member of Ipava Christian Church.

Services were held Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava with Rev. Gary Sheets officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Mayo Foundation for Alzheimer’s Research, Rochester, MN 55905; the Astoria Healthcare Center Activity Fund; or his church.
