MINNIE L. (PATTERSON) STROUSE

Minnie Strouse

Minnie L. Strouse, 101, of Galesburg, died at 9:53 p.m. Monday, July 6, 1998, in Cottage Hospital.

She was born May 14, 1897, in Alexis, a daughter of Joseph and Sarah J. Mayfield Patterson. She married Raymond P. Strouse on March 4, 1927, in Crown Point, Ind. He died Dec. 2, 1968. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She graduated from Monmouth High School in 1917 and from Knox College in 1922. She taught school in Ipava and Good Hope and at Wendall Phillips High School in Chicago for 30 years. She retired in 1953 and moved to Galesburg. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Illinois Retired Teacher’s Association and the Knox-Lombard 50-Year Club.

Services were held Thursday, July 9, at Hinchliff-Pearson-WestChapel with Rev. Kermit Petersen officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Terwilliger, Larry Bedenbender, Don Thompson, Tom Mossage, Matthew Stolley and Mike Doss. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
