FLOYD EUGENE STARKEY

Floyd Starkey

Floyd Eugene Starkey, 66, of Browning, and formerly of the East Lynn area, died at 9:10 p.m., on Sunday, July 14, 1996, at the Hoopeston Community Memorial, Hoopeston.

He was born May 2, 1930, at Watseka, a son of Floyd W. and Agnes Pearl Sinclair Starkey. He married Jean Moore on May 3, 1950, at Wellington. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Monticello; one son Michael J. (Jackie) Starkey of Urbana; three daughters, Glenda L. (David) Goble of Rankin, Debra Millitzer of Indianapolis, and Lori (Steven) Bringman of Downing, Calif.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Francis Starkey of Bondville and Keith Starkey of Urbana; one sister, Nora Starkey of Auburn, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Starkey had farmed in East Lynn area and the Browning area most of his life. He was a member and trustee of the Sheldons Grove United Methodist Church at Sheldons Grove. He was the head trustee for the Hickory Township Cemetery Association and the Republican Precinct Committeeman of Hickory Township. He enjoyed gardening and traveling.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20, at the Brown-Alkire Funeral Home, Hoopeston, with Rev. Robert Chapman officiating. Burial will be in the Body Cemetery at Woodland. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Hospice Unit of the Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital.
