Bessie M. Stagg, 70, of Bartonville, died at 6:42 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 1990, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born May 19, 1919, in Bartonville, a daughter of Eugene and Marie Blower Schindler. She married William K. Stagg on Dec. 24, 1938, in Bartonville. He died Nov. 13, 1982, in Peoria.
She also was preceded in death by one brother.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas of Bartonville and William of Peoria; one daughter, Kristine Bakowski of Athens, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
She was the editor of the Bartonville News from 1957 to 1974. She attended the Second Church of Christ Scientist in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am. this morning at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, with Reader Mahlon Mahoney officiating. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Bartonville Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
Mrs. Stagg had her newspaper printed in Astoria at Stevens Publishing Co. before its demise.
