Albert Smith Of Manito Dies

Albert A. Smith, 81, of 304 N. Adams, Manito, died at 12:26 a.m. Thursday, Mar. 16, 1989, in Pekin Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 31, 1907 in Peoria, a son of Harry and Freda Mueller Smith. He married A. Fern Shawgo June 22, 1936 in Eureka. She survives.

Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Judith) Cramerer of Manito; a grandson; a half brother, Frank Travis of Peoria; and a stepsister, Mabel Ingraham of Peoria Heights.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, one sister, two half brothers and one stepbrother.

He had been employed in the cleaning house at Keystone Steel & Wire Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of Arcadia Avenue Presbyterian Church; Lancaster Lodge 106, AF&AM, in Glasford; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria; Mohammed Temple, Shrine; and Keystone Good Fellows Club. He was a past patron of Philippine Chapter 413, Order of Eastern Star.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilton Mortuary, with Rev. J. Bruce Melton officiating. Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ipava Cemetery with Shawgo Memorial Home of Ipava in charge.

Masonic services were held.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children.
