Charlie Short Dies In Berwyn

Charlie H. Short, 69, of Bridgeview, died at 5 p.m. Friday, May 8, 1987, in McNeal Memorial Hospital in Berwyn.

He was born May 24, 1917 in Benton County, Mo., the son of John and Ida Miller Short. He married Carol Tingley in Vermont. She died Jan. 14, 1946. He then married Rachel Sneed in Chicago. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Roberts and Mrs. Judith Frakes, both of Macomb, Mrs. Charlene Schrader of Augusta, Mont., and Mrs. Darlene Kechely of Helena, Mont.; one son, Kermit Short of Fayetteville, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Joyce Chism of Bridgeview; two stepsons, Robert and Kenneth Roach of Bridgeview; several grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Glenn Short of Lincoln, Mo., Lewis Short of Raytown, Mo., and Lee Short of Green Ridge, Mo.; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Johnson of Vermont.

One brother and two sisters died earlier.

He had worked on oil rigs and in service stations for Standard Oil and had farmed in McDonough County.

He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kost Memorial Home in Vermont with Rev. Donald Pratt officiating. Burial was in the Vermont Cemetery.
