VeteranFred Sheets, Jr. Of Lewistown Dies

Fred Sheets, Jr., 65, of Lewistown, died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, 1985, at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, Ia.

He was born July 26, 1920, in Lewistown, a son of Fred and Blanche Lathbury Sheets.

Surviving are one brother, Albert Sheets of Canton and one sister, Mrs. Mary Harm of Lewistown. Two brothers preceded him in death.

In 1941, he started a used car dealership in Lewistown, believed to be the oldest in Fulton County. He also owned and operated The Rocket Tap in Lewistown for 31 years.

He was a member of the Lewistown United Methodist Church, Post 5001 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bishop Post No. 1 American Legion, the Alligator Club, Elks Club and State Trooper Lodge No. 41.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.

Memorials may be made to the Lewistown Rescue Squad or VFW Post 5001 in Lewistown.
