Max M. Smith Dies At Age 61

Max Marvin Smith, 61, of 821 E. Olive St., Canton, died at his home on Friday, Aug. 5, 1983.

He was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Astoria, a son of Joseph Lyman and Idress (Bollinger) Smith. He married Vivian Hughes on June 6, 1942, in Louisiana, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Marilyn Smiser of Pekin and Nancy Mason of Canton; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and two brothers, Joseph Smith of Cedar Rapids, Ia., and Dale R. Smith of Canton.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

He was a retired construction laborer and a World War II Army veteran.

Funeral services were held Monday at Oaks Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kevin Van Tine officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery.
