Michael J. Stroops, 88, of RR, Vermont, died at 6:42 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Vermont Christian Church with Rev. Daniel Johnson officiating. Burial was in Phillips Cemetery.
Mr. Stroops was born Oct. 12, 1881, in Oakland Township, Ray, a son of Benjamin and Susan Engle Stroops. He married Florence Rebecca Heaton in Rushville Nov. 20, 1903. She died Dec. 3, 1967.
He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Christian Church, IOOF Lodge and the Rebekah Harmony Lodge.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Pauline Parsano of Ipava and Mrs. Leona Snowden of Vermont; one sister, Mrs. Ross Heaton of Macomb; one brother, Cleitus Stroops of Moline; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, one brother and two sisters.
