Melvin Strode Of Lewistown Dies

Melvin Strode, a retired farmer and resident of Lewistown 20 years, died at 3:55 a.m. Thursday at Graham Hospital in Canton. He was 78.

He was born Aug. 24, 1891, in Fulton County, the son of Elisha and Dora (Morgan) Strode. He was married Dec. 29, 1914, in Havana, to Josephine Grigsby, who died May 8, 1965.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Willadean Shaw of Fairview; two brothers, Merle Strode of Washington, D. C., and Marvin Strode of Vermont. Seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Henry Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. Jack Hollaway officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
