Prominent Rushville Resident Dies Sunday

Bruce Shindel, 69, Rushville accountant and income tax specialist, passed away Sunday at the Deaconess hospital in St. Louis where he had been under treatment about two weeks. Shindel was a school teacher in his earlier life and later worked at the Bank of Rushville for many years until it closed in the earlier 1930’s.

He was a son of Jacob and Belle (Nelson) Shindel and was born May 5, 1881. He was married to Miss Minnie Stremmel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Stremmel of Rushville. She survives with two sons, William Bruce, of Edwardsville and Dr. George Shindel of DeWitt, Iowa, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Methodist church in Rushville with Rev. J. A. Mason officiating. Interment in the Rushville cemetery.
