Howard Sayers Dies Monday In Rock Island

Howard E. Sayers, 73, died Monday night at 10:55 at the St. Anthony hospital in Rock Island where he had been a patient for two weeks. He lived in Rock Island, where he made his home with his stepdaughter, Mrs. Edgar Lawver.

Mr. Sayers was born near Astoria on Aug. 25, 1877, a son of Thomas and Mary Ellen Groff Sayers.

Surviving are a foster daughter, Mrs. Edgar Lawver of Rock Island; two brothers, George Sayers and Delno Sayers, both of Astoria. He was a member of the Moose lodge at Canton and the E. U. B. church of Astoria. At one time he was night watchman in Astoria.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the E. U. B. church, Astoria, conducted by Rev. Fred Thompson. Burial in Oak Grove cemetery.

Friends may call at the Shawgo Memorial Home until time of services.
