Passed Away In Hospital In Canton; Funeral Held Monday Here

Dean R. Shaw, a young farmer residing near Bluff City, died in the Graham hospital in Canton early Saturday morning, where he was taken the evening before for treatment. His illness covered a period of several months. Everything that loving hands and medical aid could do was done to relieve him of his suffering, but all of no avail.

He graduated from the Astoria High school, of the class of 1928. On February 27, 1932, he was united in marriage to Miss Beulah Stambaugh of near Browning. they went to housekeeping on his parents farm where he engaged in farming, and continued as long as his health would permit.

Dean was a devoted husband, possessed a kind disposition, always ready and willing to aid and assist his fellowman. Few of his friends realized the seriousness of his condition, and his death came as a shock.

Besides his parents and his wife, he is survived by one brother, Don Shaw of Bluff City, and one sister, Mrs. Perry Brown of near Bluff City.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the United Brethren church in Astoria, conducted by Rev. C. E. Webb, pastor of the Baptist church in Carthage. The church was crowded with relatives and friends who came to pay their last respects. The floral offerings were many and most beautiful. Burial was made in the Astoria cemetery.
