Jerome Siders Died At The Hospital In Canton

Jerome Siders, for many years a resident of Astoria, died in the hospital in Canton Friday, following an illness of several years duration. He lacked five days of reaching the ripe age of 84 years.

Jerome Siders, son of Cyrus and Mary Siders, was born near Union Deposit, Pa., on Nov. 20, 1856. Mr. Siders came to Edgar county, Illinois in 1871. From there he moved to near Astoria in 1877.

On March 28, 1880 Mr. Siders and Emma Lybarger were united in marriage. To this union four children were born: one son, Clyde, and three daughters, Lillie, Mae and Ruth. Mrs. Siders preceded her husband in death on Feb. 20, 1926.

In early manhood Mr. Siders was converted at the Salem Methodist church and became a member of that church. He became an active member and class leader. Later, on moving to Astoria, he transferred his membership to the Astoria Methodist church in 1906.

He leaves to mourn his passing, four children: Clyde Siders, Huron, South Dakota; Lillie Bair, Browning, Ill.; Mae Camp of Lincoln, and Miss Ruth Siders, at home. He also leaves eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Alice Haare of Astoria.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist church by the pastor, Rev. Charles A. Bennett. Interment was made in the family lot in the Astoria cemetery.
