Aged Astoria Woman Dies

Mrs. Ida Stambaugh Passes Away Sunday At Home Of Daughter

Mrs. Ida Stambaugh, a life long resident of Astoria and vicinity, died Sunday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl McLaren, one mile north of Fairview.

Mrs. Stambaugh was born March 17, 1860, in Astoria, a daughter of James and Nancy Severns. She was married to John Stambaugh, who died October 28, 1912. She was aged 80 years, 5 months and 8 days. She was the last survivor of a family of 13 children. Surviving in addition to Mrs. McLaren at whose home she died, are three other children, Mrs. Walter McLaren of Lewistown; H. R. Stambaugh of Astoria, and R. H. Stambaugh of Galesburg.

Mrs. Stambaugh became ill in January while visiting her daughter. She was respected and honored by all who knew her. She was devoted to her home and children. Her unselfishness and her sweet gentleness which were her distinguished traits, won for her a host of loyal friends who mourn her passing. She was a member of the Christian church.

Funeral services were held at the Horton Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. John A. Brubeck. Burial in Astoria cemetery.
