The deceased was born in Fulton county, Nov. 14, 1837. Through his mother he was a relative of Abraham Lincoln. He was a Civil War veteran.
Mr. Settles was a farmer, retiring at the age of 70. It is claimed he was one of the largest land owners in this section of the state.
