Alex Sexton

VERMONT — Alex Sexton died at 10 o’clock Thursday night at his home, 461 North Seventh avenue in Canton, following four weeks of suffering from blood poisoning, caused by a tiny splinter in his hand. He was in the hospital awhile and underwent several operations. Mr. Sexton was born Jan. 16, 1865, at Vermont, and was married Oct. 16, 1889, to Miss Nellie Mendenhall. They moved to Canton two years ago, and Mr. Sexton was engaged in the carpentering business there. Mrs. Sexton, one son, and two daughters are living. The children are William Sexton and Mrs. Esther Tuckey, Canton, and Mrs. Ina Stevens, of Easton. There are three grandchildren. Mr. Sexton was a member of the Vermont Christian church and of the Canton carpenters’ union. He had many friends in Canton and Vermont by whom he was highly esteemed, and whose sympathy is extended the bereaved relatives. The funeral was held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the home, conducted by Rev. Fred Wilson, and burial made in Greenwood cemetery. The carpenters Union had charge of the funeral arrangements.
