Sudden Death Of Mrs. Shawgo

Mrs. Lewis Shawgo, who died suddenly Saturday morning, at the Shawgo country home, two miles south of Ipava was buried yesterday. The funeral was held at the Ipava Christian church at 2 o’clock and interment made in the Ipava cemetery.

The husband, three sons and one daughter are living.

Mrs. Shawgo was in apparent good health Saturday morning. Her husband, upon returning to the house, after doing the morning chores was attracted by the ringing of the telephone. It was his daughter, calling to inquire about her mother’s health. After conversing over the improved condition of Mrs. Shawgo with his daughter, he entered another room and found her dead.

Coroner F. A. Smith was called Saturday to hold an inquiry into the death of Mrs. Shawgo and death was found due to natural causes.

Death of Mrs. Lewis Shawgo

IPAVA — Saturday morning, April 17th, Mrs. Lewis Shawgo who had been ill for some time, but was considered improving, passed away suddenly while her husband was attending to his morning chores. The exact time of her going is not known.

Sarilda Dennis was born in the vicinity of Ipava on March 18, 1862, and was the daughter of Harvey and Mary Jane (Moore) Dennis.

Some twenty or more years ago she was united in marriage to Lewis Shawgo. There were five children, all living, four sons and one daughter, Mrs. McCormick who lives near Vermont. Two of the sons served during the war.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Christian church in Ipava. Elder M. T. Cooper was the officiating minister. Interment was in the Ipava cemetery.
