EUGENE W. RECTOR

Eugene Rector

Eugene W. Rector, 91, of Ipava died at 6:40 a.m. Jan. 13, 2025, at his home.

He was born Sept. 16, 1933, in Vermont, a son of Ward and Adah Easley Rector. He married Carolyn K. Watson on July 4, 1953, in Havana. She survives.

Also surviving are two children, Sharon (and Randy) Parks of Adair and Leland (and Valerie) Rector of Ipava; one brother, Dean (and Carolyn A.) Rector of Vermont; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Rector.

He served in the United States Army.

He was a farmer.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #26 of Vermont. He also was a member of Vermont Christian Church, Ipava Toy Club, Vermont Antique Tractor Club and the Aqua Clowns Ski Club.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Baughman Cemetery in Smithfield with Pastor Mike Ulmer officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials in honor of Gene may be made to the Table Grove Fire and Rescue, Vermont Christian Church or MDH Hospice.
